This programme was developed for City of Norwich School

See what the Assistant Head says.

Eugene Matthias performing in the Moving On show / workshop.
The programme is called 'Moving ON' and is for students leaving school and moving onto college or an apprenticeship. It is a motivational workshop utilising magic as a vehicle to bring fun and laughter into education and the learning environment. The workshops/show was developed in conjunction with Aim Higher, Extended Services and the Eastern Region Gifted & Talented government agencies for the City of Norwich School as part of their apprenticeship and career development programme.

Learning is based around a [magic] show and includes two paper based workshops.
  1. 'First Impressions Count' which has pupils answering questions about their friends. These questions cover, attitude, dress, positivity, friendliness and much more. Eugene then explains from a businessman's point of view how important the first 10 seconds, 10 words and 10 steps are in making an impression.
  2. 'Success in the real World'. This workshop teaches students how to take control of their lives and not let life control them. It show the importance of become proactive and not reacting to what is happening in the world around them. In this workshop students are taught a time management system which they will work through in their own lives. In addition the importance of goal setting, the difference between a positive and a negative person and shown how to build confidence through the use of open ended questions and given an understanding of body language.
  3. There is an optional 'Magic Workshop' which is a fun environment where students to learn a series of magic tricks and perform them to each other.
