This week I found a very funny teaching video with Lee Mack. So I hope you have had an enjoyable bank holiday and are looking forward to half term. Last week was a week of travels with after school magic clubs and CEOP Internet Safety & Cyber-bullying shows. Now it's time to enjoy a collection of useful links, posts, videos and jokes from around the internet. Today's Joke: "Just to establish some parameters," said the professor, "Mr. Nichols, what is the opposite of joy?" "Sadness," said the student. "And the opposite of depression, Ms. Biggs?" "Elation." "And you, sir, how about the opposite of woe?" "I believe that would be giddy up..."
Head's advise:- Act don't react:- Students are very smart and it is part of their juvenile nature to try to get you. Sometimes ignoring a disruptive behaviour is way better than reacting to it and in case it becomes repetitive or serious then make sure to talk it out with the student involved alone and not in front of the whole class.
Educational Technology: EverySlide is a web tool that allows you to create interaction around your presentations. You create a presentation in PowerPoint or Keynote, upload it to EverySlide and share the generated link with your students. using the link, students can join your slideshow from any device. You can then start asking questions, or running polls while students are going through the slides. After the presentation, you can review participants' interactions online or download their contact details and answers as a spreadsheet. Transition for primary schools: This is the time of the year when you think about Transition for year 6 moving on, we can help with our Transition show. ![]() This blog is designed as a service to all teachers. We will search the internet and bring you information which we hope will help you as a teacher on a day to day basis. The blog will always start with a joke to bring a smile to you which you can use to bring smiles to others. We will then bring you updates on the latest educational news, information technology in education, best practice, teachers story and educational apps which will make your life easier. Today's Joke: A mother mouse and a baby mouse were walking along, when all of a sudden, a cat attacked them. The mother mouse goes, "BARK!" and the cat runs away. "See?" says the mother mouse to her baby. "Now do you see why it's important to learn a foreign language?" Links:
Best Practice: Use Humour, relevant doses of humour to spice up your teaching are highly recommended. Forget about the authoritative and coercive style of teaching , for experience proved that it only disheartens learners and kills their motivation. Use humour at appropriate times; this can lead to students engagement and build up their confidence. Educational Technology: iClicker is a powerful formative assessment tool and intuitive student response system that allows for dynamic student-teacher interaction. Here is how it works: Instructors ask questions through any presentation application; students answer questions with a remote or smart device; instructors display results in real-time and record responses. Anti-Bullying Week: This year Anti-bullying week is 16th - 20th November 2015 and we have a new anti-bullying show for 2015. Please note we will be fully booked for anti-bullying week before the end of the summer term. If you have any questions please call Eugene Matthas on 07730 111111. FREE download: We have selected for you today a host of templates for your Power Point presentations. These are basically newspaper templates provided by Newspaper.net for free. If you want to create a newspaper for your class, you can do it through one of these templates. The procedure is very easy. Just download the template you are going to use, and once downloaded open the file and start customizing it the way you want. See what teachers say about our educational shows.
