NEW LOCATION
(No it's not an April fools joke)

Clubnights have moved to a fantastic new location in a room adjoining an 18th century hall in Bletchley (see events page). The atmosphere is wonderful and perfect for us with the added ability to use the hall when we decide to do something special or run courses etc.

The dates are also changing although still on Thursdays instead of every fortnight we'll meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday in the month.. This will also make it easy for people who've been away for a while to remember which Thursdays clubnights are.

Upcoming dates: 1st & 15h April - 6th & 20th May, etc

The start time is still 7pm (although no early starts now) but we can go on till 10:30 should we want or need to.

NEWSFLASH Date: 14th Sept

Hi Eug I know you said you've been doing a lot on the main website but I was surprised to see how much.. As far as the "New Buying Service for Members", I know it's always been something you've offered to do but to see how much other members have saved is a great incentive to hold back on an impulse buy. It's also nice to see the club news reflecting what members are up to... I'd say good luck Rowland but I know he doesn't use email.. I'll have to say it tomorrow instead. It's a shame about the convention but then I'm sure it will be all the better when we do have it. Is there any news on George Kovari's condition? Just had a look at the events... Is this year really nearly over... Oh well Christmas brings lot's of goodies.. Especially if I buy them before Suz gets to the cart ;-) Thanks Jon

Good News Sam Cross and Geoff Whiting have agreed to give a mini teach-in at one of the Club Nights.

NEWSFLASH Date: 3rd Sept

Hi All, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed, and learned at the last club night. I belong to another magic club over in Bedfordshire which is more of a coffee evening, nothing planned, and more often than not - nothing learned. So a big thank you to Dean and Roland for sharing their magic, a huge well done for those brave enough to stand up perfom in front of their peers (the hardest audience) and be apraised, and if you missed it, don't miss the next one. Hope to see you next time.

All the best,

Martin Daubney

Report on Sam Cross first stage show

Well let me set the scene for you. It was Saturday, the busiest day in any kids entertainers week, I had just done a 6 hour shift at my residency missing all the fun and games at my villages first annual charter fair. However I remember one fatal thing. I have my show all packed and ready on my doorstep to collect when I get home and go and perform the closing entertainment for this very charter fair. So I get home and shower change grab the box of stuff and run up to the hall to pick a good set up point and generally have a bit of a rekkie before my audience arrived. The show was for adults so I thought some light hearted comedy magic mind reading and escape would go down rather nicely. Also being an Adult crowd I could be a little more crude. So I opened the show with some one liners and we were away. I did a few card effects mainly with a large deck of cards I got, just bringing that oversized deck of cards out of the box got a laugh. I was pleased. My act went along very nicely for about 25 mins, then came the big one, the last effect of the act. My tribute to Harry Houdini, A Mail bag escape behind the closed curtains of the stage. I had practiced this many many times but this was the first time I had done it infront of a public audience that was not hand picked by myself. So I was placed into the bag and it was secured, the curtains were closed and opened (so they could see I was still there) then this was repeated. Then I made my mistake, the Audience had started their slow clap (like asked) and I slipped silently out the back door and wandered around the hall. My assistant at the curtains saw me arrive and flung them open, I ran down the centre Isle and the Audience moved into a loud applause. A standing ovation followed. I was so so pleased with this show, It was the bain of my existance when it was in its planning stages and i was more nervous than i have ever been in my life! I was so happy all went well. I recieved much feedback along the lines of "Very Professional", "Very entertaining", "No Bloody Idea How you did that" and others.
