The 2006 Lecture:
On the 16th March 2006: Mark will be returning to CentreCom MK and The Magic Club of Great Britain.
What follows here is some background information on this prestigous Magician:
During
January 2004 Mark performed three times a night for a week in the Parlour
of Prestidigitation at the Magic Castle, Hollywood. With the award ceremony
fast approaching Mark has been nominated by the members of the Magic Castle
for Best Parlour magician - that's cabaret to us - of the Year
Monday the 28th March 2005 will see Mark return for another week at The Magic Castle, Hollywood. Again performing three times a night in the Parlour of Prestidigitation through to Sunday 3rd April
6-9th July 2005 The Society of American Magicians Convention. Mark has just been booked to perform on the Saturday evening show of this years annual convention, to be held in Boston MA. Mark has been asked to do one last performance of his "Cake" routine, which he retired two years ago.
27th January and 5-9th February 2005 see Mark being flown out to Davos and Dubai to perform at corporate events.
Mark collected the top prize "British Magical Grand Prix Champion 2005" at this years Blackpool convention. Infront of 3500 magicians Mark not only won the top prize, but was also crowned "British Magicial Comedy Champion". Mark is pictured here with Las Vegas illusionist Ric Thomas who was Mark's assistant on stage.
Mark has been promoted to Member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star, an award bestowed by the President of The Magic Circle, Alan Shaxon. This is the highest award from The Magic Circle, and is awarded to members for services to magic and The Magic Circle.
On the 2nd July 2005 The Magic Circle celebrated its 100th birthday. To mark this occasion a party was held in London. This went on for four days and included 22 magic shows, involving the world's best magicians - there was no jelly !! One of these shows was called 'Mod Cons' the line up was Marc Paul, Loki, Keith Fields, Max Somerset, Kerry Scorah and Mark Shortland. " It was a great experience to be involved in such an event, and one that I will look back on in years to come with fond memories" - Mark
IBM Convention ... August 2005
After his success last year - along with the 5 trophies picked up in the same competition over previous years - Mark has been booked to appear in the opening show of the 2005 International Brotherhood of Magicians Annual Convention, to be held in Southport in September.
For the third year running Mark is heading back to Hollywood to perform at 'The Magic Castle', the most exclusive night club in Los Angeles. Mark will be performing once again in the 'Parlour of Prestidigitation' from the 12th - 19th February 2006
